The last guest with the last goodie bag has left the house. The committee gathers together to talk about the event that has just come to an end after almost a full year of planning. We come to a unanimous decision that this one was the best one. We have said that each year so… practice probably does make perfect, but this year was excellent! We had a full house at the beautiful home of Lea Cristina, the wife of the DCM at the American Embassy.
The delectable and well-presented food was made by the inhouse DCM chef, Birgitte Voss with a few additional desserts and wines donated by our faithful sponsors. We had beautiful flowers decorating the house and the tent.
Our speakers were Dr. Ilse Vejborg, head of mammography screening in Denmark who spoke about the facts and figures regarding screening in Denmark and Ingelise Ross Pedersen, a breast cancer survivor, who gave a funny and heart warming rendition of her fight with breast cancer.
Our recipient organizations, this year were “Look Good…Feel Better (www.lookgoodfeelbetter.dk) who received 55,000 Kroner, Professor Henrik J. Ditzel received 25,000 Kroner for a centrifuge for his research in breast cancer and “Krop & Kræft” received a donation of 10,000 Kroner plus ten pink yoga mats.
Nikolaj Znaider played “Violin and Piano Opus 30 no. 3” on violin with piano accompaniment by Robert Kulek. This was the second year for our successful Pink Tribute Lottery. During lunch, those who had pre-purchased lottery tickets eagerly awaited the claim of the generously donated prizes: furs, jewelery, and Nespresso machines to name a few! It was a terrific event and we thank our many guests for making it possible. We look forward to seeing you next year.
